Blog #4 test grade due 12/31/16

December is a very special month. It's a time for sharing the warmth of family and friendship. What was the best gift that you ever gave or received. Why? This gift DOES NOT have to be a material item...

  2. The very special gift I have ever received is a sketchbook. It was a Christmas gift from Kacie, and I love drawing in it. It’s really near and dear to my heart and I use it when I need to draw emotions. Sometime things just keep piling up on each other and it’s just too much for me. That’s when I can draw all of my feelings and let it all out. The sketchbook means so much to me. To know that my best friend knows me as well as to buy a thing I will use and love means so much.
I love drawing. It’s a thing I am good at, a talent I have and I can draw with ease. What I love to draw/am inspired by? My style is very much inspired by the show My Little Pony: Friendship is magic. Trust me, I have two sisters. They put it on the TV and I get sucked in…
WARNING! The rest of this is completely random.

TV SHOWS: This kind of relates to the drawing. I have been looking around on Netflix and I have found a very cool show. I watch 1 episode every day. It’s called: Skin Wars. It’s like Chopped. It’s where 12 body painters from around the country compete to win a 100,000 dollar grand prize. They paint “naked people” so if you thought of watching an episode and don’t want to see that stuff, don’t watch an episode. (The people are in underwear) I think it’s amazing to see very talented people work their magic to turn a person into a work of art. This is a multi- month trip and the painters have to be away from their families for a long time. It must be very hard for the mothers to be away from their children for that long.
(SPOILERS!) In one of the seasons, two best friends have to complete to see who will continue on with the challenge and who will be sent home and kicked out of the competition. One of the two completely breaks down into tears and gives up. He just adds little lines and baby details with the gift of 30 extra minutes they get.
MUSIC: Have you ever felt like a weirdo because of what you listen to in your headphones? I feel that way all the time… Especially when I listen to my favorite song, Dead and Gone. Jessica has been trying to get me stuck in the Hamilton world and it partially. I don’t want to pass the line of being obsessed with Hamilton! I really only like two of the songs, Helpless and Satisfied. If you want to listen to them, be my guest! It’s just not my fault if you fall in love with them or become obsessed with them!
Also, most of my friends think that a type of music that I listen to is really weird. It’s called nightcore. It’s a sped up and higher pitched version of a song.
I’m so excited for the Holiday break! How about you guys? Have a great break guys!

  3. When I think of December, I think of Christmas time! What I tend to associate with Christmas is presents. Not just receiving them, though, I like to think of giving them! I always start to save my allowance a couple months before so I can get my family Christmas presents that I know they will love. When I was in third grade, I got my nana a small mirror for her purse with “Nana” on it for Christmas. When I was younger, I bought my family’s presents at our school holiday shop because I got a smaller allowance, so it was more affordable, I guess you could say. It was always easy to find my Grandma a gift that said ‘“Grandma” because it is so common. Now Nana on the other hand, not so much. Finding something with that on it was rare, so when I found those special items once in a blue moon, I’d be thrilled. Now you can tell why this is such a special gift that I gave, but that’s not the whole reason why.
Lots of gifts I give mean something to me because of the priceless look on whomever is opening it. When they appreciate the gift, it means a lot to me because I know that saving my money and taking time to pick out the gift was worth it. This gift was different, though. I loved the fact that my Nana seemed very happy when she opened it, but something that happened recently made this the best gift I have ever gave someone. I was at her house a couple of weeks ago and she was trying to help me figure out what I would decide to get my mother for Christmas. It’s her daughter, I figured that she’d be able to come up with some ideas. Anyways, we were talking about gifts in general and she said, “Speaking of gifts,”... and she pulled from her purse the MIRROR! I was shocked that she had kept it all along. I told her how I thought it was so awesome that she still had it and that it meant a lot to me.
The gifts that I give to my relatives now I try to put a lot of thought into because you never know if they are going to like it so much, they might keep it forever! For example, when I was trying to decide what I would get my Grandma and Nana this year, I asked my parents about some of my grandparents interests, to help me out. Both of my parents told me how much they both like their tea and coffee. So because of that, I got them each a coffee mug that had a small poem on it that either started with Nana or Grandma. I was excited to see that they both expressed happiness when they opened the gift. I think giving gifts is more important than receiving them because not only does it give you a better feeling inside, it also shows whomever you give the gift to that you really appreciate them and what he/she does for you. I know all kids don’t have money or might not get an allowance, but you could always make the gift. I think homemade gifts are the best because it also shows all the time you put in making it. Yet, the real best gift you could give someone might not be an object. Gifts like love and being thankful for that person are gifts that show emotion, and really come from the heart. This holiday season, to brighten someone you know’s day, giving them a hug is all it takes. I love the gift of giving! That is why the best gift I ever gave someone was my Nana’s purple mirror.

  4. Ah December, the time of coldness, holiday cheer, and hot drinks. My personal favorite is hot chocolate. Ok so to the topic, my favorite gift that i have ever gotten has definitely got to be my dog Colt. I got Colt for my 6th birthday as a present. We didn't actually get him on my birthday we got him a few days later. So my birthday is July 30th and my brother is August 1st we got Colt on August 9th so he was a joint gift. When we got him we had 2 other pets, but sadly now he is our only pet. :( But that means i can love him more and he can sniff my butt more. (ew tmi girl) ok i'm sorry but it's true. Ok so we have had Colt fo 5 years and at first i was scared of hi (so was Kara) but we have both come around to him. Ugh again i am running out of things to say. Ok so when we got him it wasn't totally out of the blue. We were saying how my other dog looked lonely and we should get her a friend. So we looked at places to get a dog and we found shake-a-paw a dog place. So we decided to take a look at the dogs. So we went and looked at some dogs and we had two in our minds. A golden retriever or a german shepard. So we left to sleep on it and we went back in the morning. It was a rainy bleh day. So we had our decision and we went in told them which one we wanted. They told us that it would be a 30 minute wait so we went to the mcdonalds next to it. So we ate some food and went back to the place. They had to bathe him and make him smell nice ( i wish he still smelled like thaat :s). So we picked out a collar, leash, and a harness to wait 3 minutes. So he came out all scrawny and small. (again not that way now.) We put him in the car and he looked so scared. So we had to drive 45 minutes home and he was shaking the whole time. We finally got home and we had to introduce him to our other dogs. So we got in the house and he immediately ran under the coffee table. Then when he finally can out he went all the way upstairs and couldn't get down. :D It was so funny, my mom had to carry him down. So he has grow a ton and is now huge. Im talking fat, he is 120 lb and when we got him he was 30lbs. I know insane right. So i have nothing to talk about so im going to type the 35 words i need randomly. Peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. Ok i need 10 words so see ya by

  5. The best gift I ever received was a signed Hamilton poster. It was art from somebody and signed by a lot of people from the Original Broadway cast. Some people that signed if included Lin Manuel Miranda, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo and other people from the Broadway show Hamilton. It meant so much to me because it was signed by people I look up to everyday. Most of the original cast had signed it and I thought that was just amazing and I was in awe that the OC signed it. I had got the Hamilton art Poster for Christmas this year and I want to hang it up in my room to look at and admire everyday. It was the best gift I had ever received for any holiday or anything and I am so thankful that my parents got it for me. The gift really means a lot to me and I never want anything to happen to it. the
    Hamilton song reviews:

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story- It is so beautiful and sad at the same time. It starts off saying things that the founding fathers did. Then it puts the spotlight onto Eliza. The song is very calm and smooth but as it talks about Eliza she mentions everything she has done to preserve their legacy. Eliza started the first private orphanage in New York City and how it was almost funny how she was the widow of an orphan and some reason it makes me cry everytime time that I listen to this amazing song. Phillipa Soo’s voice is so beautiful and it never fails to blow me away. But when I hear Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story I end up crying every time I hear it.

Wait For It- Wait For It is a really pretty song. It is about Burr singing about what he believes in: unlike Hamilton, who just goes for it, he is willing to consider all his choices. There are so many levels of this song. Between Leslie Odom Jr.’s amazing vocals and Alex Lacamoire being an instrumental genius with the 2 of them working together, it blends so well when you listen to it. It is one of my favorite songs to listen to because of how the instruments and vocals just collide into one amazing song.

    Going to NYC:
I like to go to New York City. It is my favorite place to visit for a day. There are so many possible things you can do and there is always a busy energy. I went to New York City on Tuesday with my family and Tara. When went ad visited Central Park, the Public Library, and Burger Heaven. At the Public Library there was a Hamilton exhibit that Tara and I liked. Before that we are at a really good restaurant called Burger Heaven. It is a small restaurant that serves like hamburgers, chicken, sandwiches, etc. We went to one on 9 East 53rd street and it was tasty. I had a really fun time when we went to New York. One day when I am older I want to live in NYC!

  6. Sorry I had to delete the other one it did not copy the whole essay here is the whole thing.

It was the year 2007, a few days after my 2rd birthday, and my cat Meowgo was going to come home soon. She was a stray on the streets of and by Yonkers ,New York she was with her mother and siblings when my dad found her (by the where he works in Yonkers NY.) He had been feeding the mother not knowing she had kittens and then one day she came back to the workshop with five little kittens that were hot and panting. Out of the kindness of his heart he took the kittens and the mom in the air conditioning and gave them water. He had known that I had been loving pets since I could sign and that one would be a good addition to the family and when he got home he asked my mom if he could bring one home and she said OK. So the next day he came home with a little black and white kitten the size of my Mom’s cupped hands. I was overjoyed that the little black and white kitten was mine. I always scared her and she ran under the couch and I called a cat a meow so I would say, “Where meow go?” and the name just stuck. I don't remember getting the present much (I WAS 2 OF COURSE) but I’ve been told of the story many times. I still have Meowgo and I love her so much. My life would be so different without the presence of my cat Meowgo.
Ok so that was not enough for this whole blog essay so I need to write about another present. This present is also a pet but this time it was a dog named Nutmeg. He is a purebred vizsla. He was also gotten near my birthday but not as a gift to me, it was a gift to the whole family. (No really it was to get me and lindsay out of my parents hair about getting a dog.) Lindsay and I had been begging for a dog for quite a while now and my parents had finally decided to get us a dog because they were not having any more children. (That was a lie because 17 months to the day my baby brother Mason was born on September 12 2014.)
We looked in the local animal shelters but could not find the perfect dog we did lots of research and most of the time came up empty. Until we were watching Dogs 101 and we saw the vizsla and were hooked they were so cute, a close color to me and my sisters hair and just perfect. We did some research on the vizsla breed to find any breeders in the area. The closest breeder was in pennsylvania so we called and said we were interested. Said we wanted a female but would take a boy and she said that all the girls were already taken so we had to chose a male. We said that we would take one and when we could pick one out sooner rather than later. We got a date and saw that they all had different color strings on their little tiny collars. After playing with the puppies and snuggling them we fell in love with the one with a red ribbon on its collar. We decided on that one and left because we could not take him home until he was seven weeks old that gave us four weeks to decide on a name. By the time we could take him home we still did not have a name for him so we invited a few people over and they helped us decide on his name. We decided on Nutmeg (obviously hence his name) since he is the color of Nutmeg the spice. Those are the best gifts I've ever got.

  8. The best gift I ever received was a Wii for Christmas in either 2008 or 2007? I can't remember it perfectly but I loved my Wii. When I first got it, I opened up a game. It was Sonic and the Black Night. I Loved that game. It was hard for me (but to be fair I was like 3), but I came back to it about 2 years ago and beat it. I beat it in about 3 days. This was so amazing for me because it was the first time a played a video game and I loved it! Since then I have gotten, in order ; Wii, Ds, 2 3ds's, a Wii U, a laptop ,a phone, a Ps4, another laptop, And Computer. All of which, were amazing. Every single game I played was amazing.

Here's a funny story, so when I got my first 3ds on my sixth birthday, I loved it! I opened it up, my dad set up the settings and I was off playing my first few games! They were Spiderman Edge of Time, which was an amazing game about spider man in the future having to travel back in time to stop something from happening to him the future. It only got a 5.5/10 on IGN, though I thought it was a lot better than that, especially a game that came out on October 4, 2011. I also got Pinball Hall Of Fame, which was fun for about 3 days, but fun nevertheless.
And some other game I got. And the 6 year old I was, well technically I was 5 years , 364 days and like 21 hours old, but just for the sake of the story, I will say 6 years old. So me being my “6” year old self, I wanted to put the 3d bar all the way. So there I was, watching spider man crawl up walls in 3d. I stayed like that for about 2 hours straight. And as I was going up the stairs to bed that night, I almost fell down the stairs.

I began to beg my parents for games. At least 3 times a day, “Can we please go to GameStop?”
“I Have Money!” “Lets Order This Game Online!” I was obsessed! Then in about 2nd grade and then I found the best game to play! Wizard 101! And the best part, it was free to play! Up until like level 10. I probably replayed that game over and over again. I was lucky enough to have a good friend of mine who's brother had an account on there and didn't play it any more. So he gave me his account, and he got his brother account. We both played through that game together. It was amazing! After that, I can't even keep track of the life changing games in my life. Except mine craft. I got about sometime before November 2012. I still have the account and go back to it every once in a while.

Now that I'm looking back at this, almost all of these electronics I listed were gifts. (Excluding the ps4 because I use my own money to buy it. Also my phone and my 2nd laptop were both hand-me-downs. But they both work perfectly fine.) So I guess I loved all of these gifts and they all are near and dear to my heart.
